How the Edit Works
The wipe was requested by the prompt and happens inside the same generation: a lantern cart rolls from left to right, and its trailing left edge is the boundary line. Left of that edge the picture has already become Biwa walking through the crowd; right of it is still the cart. The cart clears the frame in about 0.75 seconds, and the low steam on the ground carries over from the previous image into the new one, tying the two together.
When writing one, name the wiping object (large and close enough to cover the full frame height), its direction, what sits on each side of the edge, and the end state. Matching the object's direction to where the characters head next helps viewers stay oriented. Check the frames afterwards to make sure the picture changes along the cart's edge; if the whole frame switches only after the cart has passed, you have an ordinary hard cut.

What to Watch For
Watch the cart's left edge. At 0.25 s the left half of the frame already shows Biwa in the crowd while the right half is still wheel and lanterns, and the dividing line moves right with the cart. By 0.75 s the cart is gone, and the low steam on the ground runs from the old image into the new one, so the change reads as the cart wiping across the lens. For about a second after that, Biwa carries the sealed box through the new image toward Shami on the right.
